The human face is close to the most amazing thing we ever have. And one of the most puzzling. Because it may not be what you think you see. You think you sadness, but it tells you otherwise. You think you see joy, but there is a much deeper meaning beneath that smile. You think you see contentment, yet you have no idea how deep the disappointment has hit upon that person. You think you see indifference, but you may not realize how much unspoken concern and hope that the person has bore. You think you see just another sense of humour that person always has, but you will never know how painful a new wound has been inflicted upon the heart. Or how much more salt that have been sprinkled upon the already severe wound.
You think you know. You think you can read those facial cues. You think you have understood. You think you have hit bull's eye.
But have you thought otherwise?
What if what you see isn't what you think it is? What if those beautiful smiles you see were hiding something more saddening? What if those laughter you hear were attempts to cover up the tears that force hard to break through those gates? What if the nonchalance you sense isn't that all nonchalant?
Because people are expert at faking expressions. Because people are trained to hide their feelings in the deepest corners of their hearts. Because people know that laughter explains so much better than tears. Because the last thing people want to admit is feeling hurt.
Putting on a strong front, that's what we do.
That's what I do.
Saw a little girl with hair of such curly ends. I really love to have such natural curls. :)
Just another beautiful thing in life. :)
